Brandy’s connection to midwifery began at a very young age when she witnessed her older sister journey through pregnancy and birth under the care of midwives. When she became a teen parent herself, she faced the challenges of navigating the healthcare system as a young parent, and through these challenges she was inspired to become involved in birth work as a doula, which eventually led her on a path to becoming a midwife. Brandy believes that childbearing is a physical, emotional, and spiritual experience. Her goal is to provide comprehensive, holistic, inclusive care that addresses each of these aspects. Every birthing person deserves to have someone there to guide and assist them in making educated choices about their pregnancy and remind them that they can trust in the strength of their body, mind, and spirit during this time.
Brandy earned her degree, with honors, from Midwives College of Utah. She completed her clinical studies serving families in her own community in Western Washington, in addition to completing her senior internship in Salt Lake City, Utah. Brandy has served on the board of Washington Alliance of Responsible Midwifery (WARM) and has been a member of Midwives Alliance of Washington State (MAWS). Brandy sees herself as a lifetime learner and is working toward her graduate degree in Midwifery.
Since becoming a midwife, Brandy has worked with a busy community-based practice in Gig Harbor, Washington, providing comprehensive perinatal care and attending home births and birth center births. She feels strongly about treating her clients as a whole person and caring for the mind and spirit in addition to the physical body. She believes it is imperative to provide inclusive, trauma-informed care and informed consent. Brand also has a special passion for supporting teen parents.
Brandy’s clients would describe her as personable and relatable; someone that you can feel comfortable talking about anything with. Brandy has open ears, an open heart, and gentle words that can help support and guide anybody through their pregnancy experience.
