About Lauren
Lauren found her path to midwifery by initially planning to be a doctor. She had always been passionate about health education and knew she wanted to be in women’s health in some capacity. She completed pre-med courses in college and shadowed doctors in various specialties, but nothing felt quite right for how she wanted to care for women. At the time, she had never heard of a midwife. Upon meeting a midwife later on, Lauren’s interest in the field sparked as she was getting ready to take the MCATs.
Shortly thereafter, Lauren witnessed her first midwife-attended birth and it solidified her passion for women’s health. Studying both art and science together helped Lauren identify an interest in healthcare with a focus on the human aspect of medicine and how to involve patients in their own care. For Lauren’s initial two years of practice, she worked in Reproductive Endocrinology where she focused on treating infertility, preserving fertility, and building families. She returned to full-scope practice in 2016 and enjoys caring for women throughout their lifespan. For Lauren, midwifery is the perfect blend of art and science.
Clients working with Lauren would describe her as a calm and supportive presence. She is non-judgmental and is focused on hearing your journey with your health. Lauren advocates for your birth preferences and is dedicated to educating women about their bodies and choices. As a woman of color, she is passionate about addressing inequalities in healthcare for BIPOC women.
