Olivia became a midwife after a career as an editor, translator, and English teacher. She was always interested in medicine but didn't fully resonate with how it is practiced. When she had her own children with midwives, she found that midwifery joined her love of science with the individual touch and whole-person perspective on care. Her practice is rooted in science-based and trauma-informed care and she is always working on improving social justice within the midwifery framework.
Olivia was born in the Seattle area but grew up in Micronesia and New Zealand. She has lived in and around Seattle most of her adult life, aside from a few years in Japan and Switzerland. She attended University of Washington for her undergraduate degree and Seattle University for nursing and midwifery. Aside from supporting pregnant people, Olivia also helps with lactation, frenotomies, gender inclusive care, abortion care, famliy planning, and gynecology.
Clients describe Olivia as a warm, honest, supportive guide in their healthcare. She is respectful of autonomy in healthcare and values a person’s experience in their body alongside evidence-based care.
