Kate’s journey to midwifery began when she accompanied her own mother during her prenatal care and witnessed the birth of her sister. This experience led Kate to a path in holistic studies, gender studies, advocating for families, becoming a doula and ultimately, becoming a midwife. Kate believes that midwifery care should be client-centered and should affirm the individual’s inner knowing. As a provider, she moves with the reverence that for some, pregnancy can leave a lifelong impression, and therefore believes it is of the utmost importance to give care that is informed, compassionate, and respectful.
Kate is a Licensed Midwife and a Certified Professional Midwife, credentialed by North American Registry of Midwives. The bulk of her midwifery education came from a MEAC accredited midwifery school and birth center, Maternidad La Luz, in El Paso, TX. This is where Kate also practiced as a staff midwife and as a preceptor for dozens of midwifery students. She also has an extensive background in Western Herbalism and Ayurveda and is an active member of MAWS (Midwifery Association of Washington State).
Since receiving her license in 2015, Kate attended over 350 births and has worked as a midwife in communal and private settings. Clients working with Kate would describe her as warm, knowledgeable, reassuring, and empathetic.
