Shaneen’s interest in midwifery was sparked after the birth of her eldest child, and at this time she was also inspired to influence change in clinical practice. Shaneen began to volunteer as a doula while also working as a Hematology/Oncology Nurse, which solidified her desire to work in the maternal-child health field. She returned to school and obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from University of Washington with a specialty in Nurse-Midwifery.
Shaneen is an active member of Midwives' Association of Washington State, the American College of Nurse Midwives, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has worked with marginalized and vulnerable populations throughout her career. She has more recently worked as a CNM with rural and medically-underserved populations. Her passion is around women's and children's health and closing the gap in maternal inequities and disparities in healthcare.
Shaneen’s philosophy of care is to provide high quality, affordable, evidence-based care with compassion, respect and excellence. Clients working with Shaneen would describe her as kind and compassionate with a focus on education and health promotion.
